Reviews for 'An Appalachian Collection':

"This is another fine book from Mr Cummings. In all there are 60 traditional melodies, many absorbed from the Scots and Irish who moved to the mountains of Appalachia during the 17th and 18th centuries. The compiler has set them out in a clear style with chord symbols, making the book ideal for those playing smallpipes in guitar duets and the like. The tenor of the tunes is definitely more 'folksy' than we are used to, and a refreshing break away from the strictures of the admittedly more difficult great Highland bagpipe regime. There are some very good photographs which help set the context within which it is intended that the music be considered. Tempo suggestions are included as are words where appropriate. All in all a tremendous resource for the ceilidh/fireside piper and something I would think all bellows players should have." ~ Robert Wallace, 'Piping Times'
