Shape-Note

American shape-note hymns tend to feature melodies, harmonies, and rhythms that are easily adapted to Scottish-style bagpipes, often to great effect. This category includes several adaptations and simple arrangements of these shape-note (a.k.a. ‘Sacred Harp’) hymns, and of ballads and gospel songs that double as shape-note hymns. In many cases the harmony parts are based upon original harmonies as found in shape-note hymnals.
