Description

A spirited, traditional bourrée ‘3 temps’ (in 3/8) from the Auvergne tradition in France, here set in D-minor for Scottish-style pipes, with an original harmony part by Timothy Cummings.  This bourrée was sourced from Laurence Dupré and Olivier Wely’s Fatcha peta lou peis: Violons des Monts d’Auvergne (2007), via Jeremiah McLane, and recorded by Wheezer & Squeezer on track 4 of ‘The Wind Among the Reeds‘ album.  (Chord symbols are not included on this setting.) [NB: This tune requires the use of F-naturals and both C-sharps and C-naturals. For chanters that do not have F- and C-natural keys, these notes may be produced on a conical (Highland or Border) chanter using ‘forked’ fingering.]

Audio sample, from ‘The Wind Among the Reeds’, featuring Border pipes (with drones tuned to D and A):
