Description

A well-loved traditional Italian carol, also known as ‘Canzone d’i Zampognari’ or ‘The Carol of the Bagpipers’. It is believed to have long been a staple of the shepherd-bagpipers of southern Italy and Sicily, where for hundreds of years there has been a tradition of shepherds coming down from the hills, playing their pipes —both the ciaramella and zampogna— in the larger cities, just prior to Christmas. This version was sourced from The New Oxford Book of Carols, and is set in the key of A-Major. A traditional harmony part, chord symbols, and first verse lyrics in both Italian and English are included.
