Description

A years-long collaboration between Timothy Cummings (Scottish smallpipes, Border pipes, whistles), Jeremiah McLane (accordion, piano), and Alex Kehler (violin, nyckelharpa, låtmandola, voice) has resulted in Triton’s long-awaited debut album, which celebrates the vast wealth of traditional dance music found throughout northwestern Europe—particularly that of Brittany, Auvergne, Sweden, and Scotland. Traditional melodies are given fresh harmonies and counterpoints, and performed with an entirely unique combination of instruments. Songs and compelling original compositions also feature prominently, ultimately delivering an enthralling collection of music that’s infused with passion and delivered with purpose.

Rule of Three has so far been highlighted on Gary West’s ‘Enjoy Your Piping’ podcast and Vermont Public’s ‘All the Traditions’.

Rule of Three is available digitally on Bandcamp, Spotify, and iTunes, among other outlets, but the physical CD and 24-bit WAV files on Bandcamp deliver a sound quality that’s far superior to any mp3 or m4a.  The physical CD also includes beautiful, original artwork, informative liner notes, and a band photo.  (Purchases made on Bandcamp, and especially here at Birchen Music, provide considerably more financial support for the artists.)
