‘Verbum Patris hodie’ (‘The Word of the Father Today’) is a dark and mysterious Christmas chant hailing from at least the 15th century. This version was sourced from the New Oxford Book of Carols, and is set here for Scottish pipes in the key of B-minor. A chant-style harmony part, chord symbols, and first verse lyrics in Latin (with translation) are also included.
